The first charity we are raising money for is “Cool Earth”, a charity committed to the protection of the rainforests through securing land that would be destroyed by logging within 18 months. They do this through working with local communities. As they put it “Cool Earth knows that the rainforests are worth much more left standing – both for the planet and for local communities”.
While enjoying the adventure of a life time, we are also taking part in a potentially dangerous event to raise money for charity. We set out to raise over £1000 for two fantastic charities, and we have done just that. Now all that is left is to see by how much we can exceed our original target. Absoloutely all money raised through our Virgin Money Giving site will be donated dirctely to two fantastic charities, with the proceeds being split 50/50. McMillan is a UK based charity which supports people and their families dealing with cancer diagnosis and treatment. Donations help fund nurses and other specialist health care professionals and building cancer care centres. They also help with getting people to hospitals, providing time off for carers, and offer financial advice to help cover additional costs. “Together we listen, we learn, we act to help people live with cancer.”
